1 Acceptance and who may use Sanctuo

These Terms of Use are the agreement between you and Sanctuo. By creating an account, using the app or browsing sanctuo.com.br, you agree to them. If you disagree with any part, the answer is not to use the service — and, if you already have an account, to delete it from within the app.

Sanctuo is intended for people aged 18 or over. When you first open the app we ask for your age range, and the youngest option is 18–20 — there is no option for anyone under 18. Much of the app — finding churches, viewing the map, reading the Bible — works without an account; an account is only required for what is yours (favorites, highlights, reviews and claims).

2 The 30-second summary

This summary does not replace the full text, but it covers the essentials:

• Sanctuo is a catalog and a community — it is not a church, does not represent any denomination and does not speak for any of them.
• The content you post remains yours. You only give us permission to display it within the service.
• Reviews and suggestions go through moderation and may be rejected.
• We never touch your money. A PIX donation goes straight from your account to the church’s account. We do not act as an intermediary, we do not hold funds and we do not charge a fee.
• Sanctuo Pro is sold through the App Store or Google Play — the store is the one that charges and refunds.
• Church information comes from public sources and may be out of date. Check with the church before you go.

3 What Sanctuo is — and what it isn’t

Sanctuo helps people find churches near them, offers the Bible with reading plans and gives churches a profile they can maintain themselves.

Sanctuo is not

• a religious institution or the spokesperson for any denomination. Being listed in the catalog does not mean endorsement, affiliation or recommendation;
• a payment institution. See section 9;
• a judge of doctrine. We do not assess, approve or rank the theology of any church;
• an official source of service times. Information can change without our knowing.

4 Your account

• You are responsible for keeping your access secure and for everything that happens in your account.
• Your sign-up information must be true and up to date.
• One person, one account. You may not create accounts to pose as different people — in reviews, for example.
• You can delete your account at any time, on your own, under Profile › Privacy and account. What is erased and what remains is explained in the Privacy Policy.

5 Community rules

Sanctuo deals with faith, which is a sensitive subject. You may not:

• post content that is illegal, defamatory, discriminatory or that incites hatred — including against denominations, religions or people;
• attack people by name in reviews (leaders, members or anyone else);
• impersonate another person, a church or a leader;
• review a church you do not know, or coordinate reviews to inflate or sink a rating;
• use the service for spam, unsolicited advertising, chain letters or pyramid schemes;
• collect catalog data by automated means (scraping), or try to get around technical and security limits;
• ask for money on behalf of a church without its authorization.

6 The content you post

Reviews, correction suggestions, photos and the content of a church profile you manage: you keep ownership. By posting, you grant us a free, non-exclusive and revocable license to store, display and distribute that content within Sanctuo — in the app, on the website and on public church pages. The license ends when you remove the content, except for technical backup copies and whatever the law requires us to keep.

By posting, you confirm that the content is yours or that you are authorized to use it.

Moderation

• Claims, suggestions and PIX keys are reviewed before they appear;
• reviews can be reported and removed if they break these rules;
• a church’s Sanctuo rating only appears once it has a minimum number of reviews, so that a single opinion does not define a community’s reputation;
• moderation is done by people and can get things wrong. If you disagree, write to support — we will take another look.

7 The church catalog

Most profiles start from public sources, mainly Google Maps: name, address, phone number, website, photo, rating and number of reviews. When we show that rating, it is labeled as Google’s — it is not a review made on Sanctuo, and the two are never mixed.

This information may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Anyone can suggest a correction, and the church itself can claim the profile and fix it (section 8).

Are you a church leader and want your church not to appear on Sanctuo? Write to contato@sanctuo.com.br from an official channel of the institution and we will remove the profile.

8 Claiming a church profile

Leaders can take over their own church’s profile to keep service times, contacts and announcements up to date. By submitting a request, you declare that you are authorized by the institution to represent it on Sanctuo.

• Every request starts as pending and is checked by hand — we may ask for additional proof and may reject it, and a rejection does not give rise to any right to compensation;
• falsely claiming a connection to a church results in immediate removal of access, in addition to any applicable civil and criminal liability;
• whoever manages a profile is responsible for what they publish on it;
• the institution may, at any time, ask for access to be transferred from, or revoked for, whoever manages the profile.

Verification badges only indicate that we checked certain registration details on the date of review. They do not certify the church’s integrity, financial health or any other quality, and they may be reviewed or removed.

9 PIX donations

PIX is Brazil’s instant payment system. Donations by PIX are only offered where the feature is available — that is, for churches in Brazil. This section applies whenever you use it.

As a result:

• we check the PIX key before publishing it, but we do not guarantee how the money is used, nor that a receipt, proof of donation or tax benefit will be issued;
• we do not process chargebacks, cancellations or refunds — your bank and the church are the ones who can help with that;
• a donation does not create any right, membership, stake or consideration with the church or with Sanctuo;
• found a suspicious PIX key? Let support know: we remove the key while we look into it.

10 Sanctuo Pro

Sanctuo is free. Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks additional features, at the prices and billing period shown in the app at the time of purchase.

• Sales, billing and renewal are handled by the App Store or Google Play — not by us;
• the subscription renews automatically until you cancel, and you cancel in the store itself;
• refunds follow the store’s policy and the law that applies where you live. Deleting your Sanctuo account does not cancel the subscription;
• we may change the features included in Pro. If a change significantly reduces what you signed up for, we will let you know in advance.

11 Plans for churches

Plans for institutions are purchased outside the app stores, directly from us, and are governed by the commercial proposal agreed with the church. In case of conflict, the commercial proposal prevails over these terms for anything specific to that purchase.

12 The Bible and intellectual property

The Bible text available in the app is in the public domain or is used under the license of the respective translation, which is always identified in the app.

The Sanctuo brand, logo, code, design and the organization of the catalog are ours and may not be copied, reproduced or used without written permission. You may share verses, profiles and Sanctuo pages — including the images the app creates for that purpose.

13 Service availability

We work to keep Sanctuo up and running, but it is provided “as is”. It may be unavailable because of maintenance, technical failure or causes beyond our control. We may change, suspend or discontinue features — and, if it is something significant, we will give reasonable notice.

14 Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end the access of anyone who breaks these terms, especially in cases of fraudulent claims, a third party’s PIX key, review manipulation or illegal content. Where possible and reasonable, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix it. In serious cases, suspension is immediate.

You can end your relationship with us at any time by deleting your account.

15 Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by Brazilian law, including the Consumer Protection Code (Código de Defesa do Consumidor), Sanctuo is not liable for:

• the accuracy of third-party information shown in the catalog, including information that comes from Google Maps;
• what happens between you and a church or another user — including donations, visits and events;
• content posted by other users, without prejudice to our obligation to remove it when notified as provided by law;
• outages and failures of third-party services we depend on.

Nothing here excludes liability that the law places on us and that cannot be waived, nor the rights you have as a consumer — including those granted by the law of your country of residence.

16 Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version, and significant changes are announced in the app or by email with reasonable notice. Continuing to use Sanctuo after a change means you accept the new version; if you do not, you can delete your account.

17 Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil. Any disputes will be settled in the courts of the place where the user is domiciled.

This choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live.

18 Recommended books and affiliate links

At sanctuo.com.br/livros we keep a selection of books, each with a short comment of our own. The selection and its links are for Brazil: the books are Portuguese-language editions and the links go to Amazon’s Brazilian store, so this section applies where the feature is available.

Sanctuo does not sell books: there is no cart, we receive no payment and we hold no stock. The button on each listing takes you to Amazon, and Amazon is the one that sells, charges, delivers and handles exchanges, returns and delivery times.

We are a participant in the Amazon Associates Program and, as such, we earn a commission on qualifying purchases made through these links. This does not change the price you pay. The notice appears on every page of the catalog and next to every button, and this section repeats it so there is no doubt.

The recommendations are editorial: we choose the titles based on what we think will serve people who use Sanctuo, and the text on each listing is ours. They are not professional advice of any kind, do not replace pastoral, psychological or medical guidance, and do not mean that we agree with everything each book says.

Prices, availability and delivery times are not shown here — they belong to Amazon, change whenever Amazon decides, and only those shown on its website at the time of purchase apply. When you click, you become subject to Amazon’s terms and privacy policy.
